Tina Weymouth (born November 22, 1950) is an American musician, singer, and songwriter, best known as the bassist and a founding member of the new wave band Talking Heads. Born in Coronado, California, she studied art at the Rhode Island School of Design, where she met her future husband and bandmate Chris Frantz. Weymouth's bass playing, characterized by its simplicity, groove, and melodic quality, was foundational to Talking Heads' distinctive sound. Beyond the band, she co-founded the side project Tom Tom Club. Her work has influenced post-punk and alternative rock music.
