Tom Preston-Werner (born October 28, 1979) is an American software developer and entrepreneur best known as a co-founder of GitHub. He created the Jekyll static site generator and co-authored the Semantic Versioning specification. Preston-Werner served as GitHub's CTO until resigning in 2014 following an internal investigation. He also co-founded Gravatar and remains active in open source and tech investing.
