Ahmed Kathrada was a distinguished South African anti-apartheid activist and politician. Born on August 21, 1929, he was deeply committed to the struggle against racial segregation and discrimination in South Africa. A close associate of Nelson Mandela, Kathrada was a pivotal figure in the African National Congress (ANC) during the fight for freedom. Imprisoned for 26 years, including 18 years on Robben Island, he remained steadfast in his dedication to the cause. Following the end of apartheid, he contributed to social justice and reconciliation efforts in South Africa. more
