R. J. Reynolds (Richard Joshua Reynolds) was a prominent American businessman and a pioneer in the tobacco industry. Born on July 20, 1850, in Patrick County, Virginia, he founded the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Through innovative marketing and brand building, he transformed his company into one of the world's largest tobacco manufacturers. His strategies included promoting blended tobacco and introducing modern advertising techniques, profoundly influencing the U.S. tobacco industry. He died on July 29, 1918. more
