Sam Childers (born 1962) is an American philanthropist, missionary, and former construction worker known for his humanitarian work in South Sudan and northern Uganda. Once a motorcycle gang member and drug dealer, he converted to Christianity and founded the Angels of East Africa orphanage, rescuing war orphans and former child soldiers. His life story inspired the 2011 film Machine Gun Preacher, starring Gerard Butler. more
