Adam Osborne (March 6, 1939 – March 18, 2003) was a British-American author, publisher, and computer pioneer. He is best known for founding the Osborne Computer Corporation, which introduced the Osborne 1, the world's first portable computer, in 1981. Osborne also made significant contributions to computer publishing, establishing Osborne/McGraw-Hill and authoring several technical books. His career was marked by innovation and controversy, particularly the rapid success and subsequent bankruptcy of his company due to management missteps. He died of brain cancer in 2003 at age 64. more
