Ricardo Alarcón (born May 21, 1937) is a veteran Cuban statesman and diplomat. He served as President of the National Assembly of People's Power from 1993 to 2013, and as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1992 to 1993. A key figure in the Cuban Revolution, Alarcón represented Cuba at the United Nations and played a major role in negotiations with the United States on immigration. He was a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Cuba until 2013. Known for his unwavering revolutionary stance and diplomatic acumen, he is considered one of Fidel Castro's closest allies. more
