Thomas G. Stemberg was an American entrepreneur and venture capitalist who co-founded Staples, Inc., the office supply retail giant. Born on January 18, 1949, in New York, he served as CEO of Staples from 1986 to 1997, transforming a small startup into one of America's largest retail chains. After leaving Staples, he became a prominent venture capitalist, investing in numerous technology startups.
