Robert Quine (December 30, 1942 – May 31, 2004) was an American guitarist renowned for his pioneering work in punk and alternative rock. Born in Akron, Ohio, he was influenced by jazz and blues before becoming a key figure in the New York punk scene. Quine is best known for his tenure with Richard Hell & the Voidoids, contributing iconic guitar solos to the album "Blank Generation." He also collaborated with Lou Reed, Brian Eno, and others, blending punk with experimental and noise music. His playing style, characterized by sharp, dissonant tones and improvisation, influenced many later guitarists. Quine died of a drug overdose at age 61. more
