Bette Davis was an iconic American actress who dominated Hollywood's Golden Age with her powerful performances and distinctive voice. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1908, she became one of the first actresses to truly control her own career. She won two Academy Awards for Best Actress for "Jezebel" (1938) and "All About Eve" (1950), and received 11 Oscar nominations—a record for an actress at the time. Known for her fierce personality and dramatic intensity, Davis portrayed some of cinema's most memorable female characters. Her career spanned five decades, and she was widely regarded as the "Queen of Hollywood." She died in France in 1989 at age 81. more
