Ihab Hassan (October 17, 1925 – September 10, 2015) was an Egyptian-American literary critic, writer, and scholar, widely recognized as a pioneer of postmodernism studies. Born in Cairo, Egypt, he moved to the United States in the 1950s and taught at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. Hassan is best known for coining the term 'postmodern turn' and for his influential works such as 'The Postmodern Turn: Essays in Postmodern Theory and Culture' and 'The Literature of Silence.' His interdisciplinary approach bridged literary criticism, cultural theory, and philosophy, leaving a lasting impact on global academia. He passed away in Wisconsin at age 89. more
