Stanford Moore (September 4, 1913 – August 23, 1982) was an American biochemist who, together with William H. Stein, won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1972 for their work on the structure and function of ribonuclease. Moore made pioneering contributions to protein chemistry, notably developing the amino acid analyzer, which revolutionized protein sequencing. His research elucidated the catalytic mechanism of enzymes and laid the groundwork for molecular biology. He spent most of his career at the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research. more
