She took in the dents and pings along the walls of her daddy's big gumbo pot. Every imperfection was perfect in her eyes. "How's that gumbo coming along, baby girl?" "It's almost there," Tiana called. Her father came over and pulled her into a side hug. "Smells good." "And it tastes even better." She scooped up a big spoonful of the gumbo and blew lightly across it. Then she held the spoon up to him and grinned as he sipped a bit of the dark brown liquid.
