“To be appreciated by a whole 'nother generation of fans, all of a sudden discovering you, it's kind of what I did with the classic bands I love - the ones that influenced me.” KindWholeGenerationsFansBandClassicDiscoveringAppreciated Author:Scott Weiland
“Once again, in the fine tradition of North Texas Lab Bands, this is truly a superb band. Under the artful leadership of Neil Slater, these great musicians have managed to combine small group "openness" with the swinging precision of a classic big band. Very enjoyable!” BigsGroupsFineBandMusicianTraditionClassicOpennessTexasEnjoyablePrecisionGreat MusicLabsSmall GroupsSuperbGreat Musician Author:Michael Brecker
“In the 80s there weren't so many bands around and nowadays there are a lot more bands around. I think sometimes there are too many bands. But there are a lot of interesting young bands around. They are not really playing the classic metal stuff, that's up to the old bands.” ThinkingSometimesYoungStuffInterestingBandClassicMetals80s Author:Udo Dirkschneider
“I started playing guitar at the age of 8 or 9 years. Very early, and I was like already into pop music and was just trying to copy what I heard on the radio. And at a very early age I started experimenting with old tape recorders from my parents. I was 11 or 12 at that time and then when I was like 14 or 15 I had a punk band. I made all the classic rock musician's evolutions and then in the early nineties I bought my first sampler and that is how I got into electronic music, because I was able to produce it on my own. That was quite a relief.” TryingYearsFirstsMadeAgeAbleParentMy OwnHeardRocksProduceEvolutionBandMusicianMusic IsGuitarRadioPopsClassicReliefCopiesPunkTapePop MusicRock MusicElectronic MusicRecordersPlaying GuitarClassic RockRock Musicians Author:Christian Fennesz
“Critics and fans use the music of their youth as reference points. For years, people seriously wondered who "the next Beatles" were going to be, and classic rock bands were the de facto yardstick for rock quality.” PeopleYearsUseNextQualityFansRocksYouthBandCriticsClassicRock BandsYardsticksClassic Rock Author:Michael Azerrad
“I think Nouveau Gloaming is a classic black metal record and I would hate to be a band that kept trying to recapture the same essence, but failing, for the rest of its days.” ThinkingTryingHateBlackRecordsFailingBandEssenceClassicMetalsBlack MetalGloaming Author:Mat McNerney
“One night around that time, at Hammersmith, Bob Dylan was about to go into [his 1963 classic] 'Don't Think Twice, It's Alright. He said, 'Hey, Bucky! Play mandolin on this.' I am not really a mandolin player; I could only play in certain keys. Halfway through, he stops the band, turns to the audience and points to me. He says: 'He isn't playing, he's miming.' And then: 'Should I fire him?' The whole audience yells.” ThinkingShouldSaidPlayWholeNightCertainTurnsAudienceFirePlayerKeysBandHeyClassicBobShould IDylanHalfwayOne NightAlrightThink Twice Author:Bob Dylan
