Joyce Banda, born on April 12, 1950, is a former President of Malawi and the first female president in Africa. She is also the first female president to be elected in Africa. Before becoming President, Banda served as Vice President of Malawi and held several key positions in government departments. Her political career has been dedicated to promoting the social and economic development of Malawi, particularly in reducing poverty and improving the status of women.
