Beginning in 1952, she walked across the United States nearly continuously for nearly three decades, covering over 25,000 miles to promote peace and nonviolence. A committed vegetarian, she advocated for simple living and authored the book "Peace Pilgrim: Her Life and Work in the Cause of Peace."
