Raoul Wallenberg (August 4, 1912 – July 17, 1947) was a Swedish architect, diplomat, and humanitarian. During World War II, he served as a Swedish diplomat in Budapest, Hungary, where he saved tens of thousands of Jews from Nazi persecution by issuing protective passports and establishing safe houses. He was arrested by Soviet forces in 1945 and subsequently disappeared, with his fate remaining a mystery. Wallenberg is widely recognized as one of the greatest humanitarians of the 20th century, inspiring generations with his courage and self-sacrifice.
