Raoul Wallenberg (August 4, 1912 – July 17, 1947) was a Swedish architect, diplomat, and humanitarian. During World War II, he served as a Swedish diplomat in Budapest, Hungary, where he saved tens of thousands of Jews from Nazi persecution by issuing protective passports and establishing safe houses. He was arrested by Soviet forces in 1945 and subsequently disappeared, with his fate remaining a mystery.
