Ronald Harwood (born November 9, 1934) is a British playwright, screenwriter, and author born in Cape Town, South Africa. He gained international recognition for his play "The Dresser," which he adapted into a screenplay, earning him the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay in 1984. He also wrote the screenplay for "The Pianist" (2002), which received multiple Oscar nominations. Harwood is celebrated for his ability to portray complex emotional relationships and the inner lives of performers.
