Salva Kiir Mayardit, born on September 13, 1951, is the President of South Sudan. He is a founding member of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement, which played a significant role in the Sudanese civil war. The movement, which he co-founded, fought against the Sudanese government, leading to the independence of South Sudan in 2011, where he became the first president of the new nation.
