William Peter Blatty, born on January 7, 1928, and died on January 12, 2017, was an American writer known for his suspense and horror-themed works. His most famous novel, 'The Exorcist' published in 1971, was adapted into a highly successful film of the same name, winning him an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.
