Xiang Yu (232 BC - 202 BC), also known as Xiang Ji, was a prominent military leader and warlord during the late Qin Dynasty period in Chinese history. Born into a noble family of the former Chu state, Xiang Yu was renowned for his extraordinary strength and exceptional martial abilities. He became the leader of the rebel forces against the Qin Dynasty and played a crucial role in overthrowing the tyrannical Qin rule. After the fall of Qin, Xiang Yu proclaimed himself as the "King of Western Chu" and engaged in a power struggle with Liu Bang, the founder of the Han Dynasty. Though ultimately defeated, Xiang Yu's legendary courage, his dramatic defeat of the Qin army at the Battle of Julu, and his tragic suicide at the Battle of Gaixia have made him one of the most iconic heroic figures in Chinese history.
