René Magritte (1898-1967) was a Belgian surrealist artist renowned for his thought-provoking visual illusions. His paintings frequently placed ordinary objects in unfamiliar contexts, challenging viewers' perceptions of reality. His most famous work, "The Treachery of Images" (1929), depicts a pipe with the text "This is not a pipe" written beneath it, becoming an iconic piece of the surrealist movement.
