Eddie Mathews (October 13, 1931 – February 18, 2001) was a legendary American professional baseball player who played as a third baseman. During his 22-year career, Mathews played for the Boston Braves, Milwaukee Braves, Atlanta Braves, Houston Astros, and Detroit Tigers. He was one of the most powerful hitters in baseball history, finishing his career with 512 home runs. Mathews was a 9-time All-Star and helped the Milwaukee Braves win the 1957 World Series. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1978, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest third basemen in baseball history. more
