“Men who are devoid of the power of spiritual perception are unable to recognize anything that cannot be seen externally.”
Quote by Paracelsus
Work
This volume presents an English rendering of material concerning Paracelsus, the early modern medical reformer who challenged established Galenic traditions and advanced chemical approaches to medicine and natural philosophy. The work draws upon his extensive published corpus, much of which appeared in difficult-to-obtain editions, as well as manuscript sources not previously accessible to a wider readership. The compilation addresses both biographical elements of Paracelsus's life and the substance of his teachings, reflecting his contested reputation as a healer, teacher, and controversial figure in the history of science and medicine. The translation and extraction effort represented an attempt to make available to English readers the thought of a figure whose influence extended across medicine, chemistry, and occult philosophy in the early modern period. more
