Lal Bahadur Shastri was an Indian politician who served as the fourth Prime Minister of India from 1964 to 1966. Born on October 2, 1904, in Mughalsarai, Bihar, he was a prominent leader of the Indian National Congress and played a significant role in India's independence movement. Shastri's tenure was marked by his leadership during the 1965 India-Pakistan War and the historic Indo-US nuclear deal. He is known for his simplicity and his slogan 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan', which means 'Hail to the Soldier, Hail to the Farmer'. He passed away on January 11, 1966, while in office. more
