Al Dubin (June 10, 1891 – February 11, 1945) was an American lyricist who formed one of the most successful songwriting partnerships in Hollywood's Golden Age with composer Harry Warren. Born to Romanian Jewish immigrants in New York, Dubin began his career in Broadway during the 1920s before transitioning to Hollywood in the early 1930s. He is best known for his work on pre-Code musical films including "42nd Street" (1933) and "Footlight Parade" (1933). His classic song "Lullaby of Broadway" remains an enduring standard in American popular music. Dubin's elegant and poetic lyrics helped define the sound of 1930s American entertainment. He died of a heart attack in Los Angeles in 1945 at age 53. more
