Na epidermi ličnosti osjećao sam kao vežanj čak i tako nježne dodire da ni sâm nisam znao jesu li oni milovanje ili sputavanje. Kad su svi mostovi bili spaljeni, pitao sam se: što si time postigao? Usamio si se, ogolio do kosti, stvorio oko sebe pojas pustoši. Lišio si se svega, pa najzad i sebe sama - osakaćena i nepotpuna bez svega onoga što te integrira i objašnjava. Drugi imaju bar svoje lance. Ti nemaš ni to. Nisu izostale ni varijacije na temu žrtva. - Žrtva! Umjetnost i žrtva! Vječiti binom, u njegovim beskonačnim odnosima i omjerima. Žrtva i umjetnost. Žrtva umjetnosti. Umjetnost žrtve. A žrtva za instrument bez sumnje predstavlja najviši stepen žrtve za koji je sposoban ljudski stvor. Ta molim te, zar bi iko od nas bio spreman da za čovjeka prinese onoliku žrtvu koliko prinosi za instrument!”
