“Ella!” the voice yells, but I cannot tell where it is coming from. The sound wraps around me, spreading like spilt water and then evaporating into silence. “Where am I?” I whisper again. “The back of the church was raised up from the ground. Tossed in among its supports were what looked like moldering bones.
