Italian-American physicist and Nobel Prize winner. Fermi made numerous contributions to physics, particularly in the fields of nuclear physics and particle physics. In 1938, he discovered the neutron, and in 1942, he led the construction of the Chicago Pile-1, the world's first man-made nuclear reactor.
