“While the system of institutional churches of various stripes has been well established, the recovery of the independent assembly in homes, house by house, according to the New Testament, is still in it's infancy. Ironically, it is the assembly located in homes that the apostles labored to build up. Yet two thousand years later, it is still obscure. However, the Lord Jesus, according to His desire, has not given up and is recovering the assembly back to its rightful prominence. Since it is a fresh discovery by many believers in recent decades, trial and error is still taking place as believers learn and negotiate their way back to assembling as prescribed by the early apostles.” HomeHouseChurchDiscoveryRecoveryTrial And ErrorHouse ChurchAssembly Of GodInstitutional Church Author:Henry Hon
“Normally when Christians go to church, they do not have to prepare to contribute anything other than some money for the tithing plate in their 'Sunday best.' They go to listen and watch those who have done the preparations carry out their professional services. Therefore, there is a hard shift in the concept that assembling according to the New Testament is very different and will require preparation, if the goal is to build up the assembly. Since an assembly's activities depend on member's contributions, if no one prays, sings, or says anything concerning Jesus it will be a very dead and boring gathering -- or the gathering will end up focused on other things. Therefore, a proper assembly requires every member to prepare something to bring and share. This is why 1 Corinthians 14:26 speaks of each one having a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, etc.” ChurchPrayingSingingBoringRevelationsSharingProfessionalismTithingContributionsHymn Singing Book:ONE: Unfolding God's Eternal Purpose from House to House Source: ONE: Unfolding God's Eternal Purpose from House to House
“All believers have been called into only one fellowship, which is that of Jesus Christ. Believers may mistakenly consider the group they associate with is one fellowship, and every other group has its own separate fellowship. The truth is, all believers belong to only one fellowship...Since all believers are in the one body of Christ, there should be no divisions in Christ.” ChurchChristianityGroupsCallingVocationFellowshipDivisiveness Book:One: Unfolding God’s Eternal Purpose from House to House Source: One: Unfolding God’s Eternal Purpose from House to House
“It is important that a distinction be made between the assembly as defined by the New Testament and churches as they are known today...Compared with the pattern of the assembly of believers (ekklesia) as described in the New Testament, institutional churches fall far short.” ReligionChurchEkklesiaEcclesiaInstitutional ChurchNew Testament ChurchFormal ReligionIc Author:Henry Hon
