Victor Borge (1909-2000) was a Danish-American comedian and pianist, known as "the Clown of the Piano" and "the funniest man in the world." He pioneered a unique performance style that combined classical music with humor, making classical music accessible to the general public. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, Borge began performing at age nine and later studied at the Berlin Academy of Music. His innovative comedy piano performances, which included playing the piano backwards and using bananas on the keys, entertained audiences worldwide. He performed for royalty and heads of state, appeared on television shows, and became one of the most influential entertainment artists of the 20th century.
