John Gabriel Stedman was a renowned 18th-century British traveler and author, known for his explorations in Southern Africa and East Africa. Born in the Netherlands in 1744, he moved to Britain and spent approximately 20 years in South Africa, participating in the trade activities of the Dutch East India Company and conducting numerous expeditions, which he meticulously documented.
