Mariska Hargitay, born on January 23, 1964, is an American actress. She gained fame for her role as Olivia Benson in the television series 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit', for which she has won numerous awards, including an Emmy. Hargitay is also a social activist outside of her acting career, dedicated to combating sexual violence and founded the non-profit organization 'Rescue & Restore' to help women affected by sexual violence.
