Robert Walpole (26 August 1676 – 18 March 1745) was a British statesman widely regarded as the first de facto Prime Minister of Great Britain, serving from 1721 to 1742. Born into a Norfolk gentry family, he entered Parliament in 1701 and rose through the Whig Party. After stabilizing the economy following the South Sea Bubble crisis, he became the dominant figure in government under Kings George I and George II. Walpole pursued a policy of peace and low taxes, fostering economic growth and consolidating Whig power. His long tenure established the conventions of cabinet government and the role of the Prime Minister, making him a pivotal figure in British political history. more

“No serious sociologist any longer believes that the voice of the people expresses any divine or specially wise and lofty idea. The voice of the people expresses the mind of the people, and that mind is made up for it by the group leaders in whom it believes and by those persons who understand the manipulation of public opinion. It is composed of inherited prejudices and symbols and clichés and verbal formulas supplied to them by the leaders.”

“Mind can never be intelligent - only no-mind is intelligent. Only no-mind is original and radical. Only no-mind is revolutionary - revolution in action. The mind gives you a sort of stupor. Burdened by the memories of the past, burdened by the projections of the future, you go on living - at the minimum. You dont live at the maximum. Your flame remains very dim. Once you start dropping thoughts, the dust that you have collected in the past, the flame arises - clean, clear, alive, young. Your whole life becomes a flame, and a flame without any smoke. That is what awareness is.”
