Teddy Pendergrass was a prominent American singer-songwriter celebrated for his soulful voice and poignant ballads. He gained widespread recognition in the 1970s with hits such as 'I Don't Want to Miss a Thing' and 'Turn Me Loose'. Pendergrass was also a skilled songwriter and producer, whose work helped many artists achieve success. His career was tragically cut short in 1982 when he was involved in a car accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down.
