Ruth Davidson (born November 10, 1978) is a Scottish politician who served as leader of the Scottish Conservative Party from 2011 to 2019. Known for her moderate conservative views and advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights, she became the first openly gay leader of a major UK political party. Under her leadership, the Scottish Conservatives achieved historic gains in the 2016 and 2017 Scottish Parliament elections, becoming the largest opposition party. She resigned in 2019 to focus on family life and later entered the House of Lords. She also works as a media commentator. more
