Quote by Katherine May

“I went for a walk behind the studio where I go to write. I have what’s essentially a cupboard in an old farm building, one otherwise populated with visual artists. I can’t really justify any more space. A cupboard is all I need, and a narrow shelf on which to perch my laptop. In any case, I tend to spend more time walking than actually writing, striking off through the farm and into the fields beyond, where I can join onto the North Downs Way and walk to Canterbury in an hour if I want to. If I head the opposite way, there is a string of little country pubs, where I can sit for a while and pretend I’m gathering my wits about me.”

“Make it your aim and decision to slow down enough to enjoy the ride. Be grateful for the small victories. Be mindful of the one’s that will come if you stay faithful in your calling. Stop and smell the roses even though you might be dealing with thorns and thistles in your wake today. Remember, it is never as bad as it seems or as good as it seems. The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. But as you take that ONE STEP, breathe it in and be thankful that you are in this place and success and happiness is just over the mountain.”

“The human ego is the ugliest part of man. We lift up men who only show us darkness, and put down those brave enough to show us the light. Likewise, people engage in darkness when it is light outside, and acknowledge the light only when it is dark. We abandon those fighting for us to cheer behind those fighting against us. And, we only remember good people and God when it is convenient for us, and take them for granted because their doors are always open - only to chase after closed doors and personalities void of substance and truth.”
