“Culcat pe burtă și cu casca trasă cât mai pe ceafă, Axente simțea cum fiecare explozie părea a fi tot mai aproape și că nu mai avea timp să-și recapete răsuflarea. Pământul se zguduia tot mai rău și ploaia părea că se transformase din picături de apă în bolovani, pietre și uneori valuri de pământ. Cu ochii împăienjeniți de pământul ce aproape că-l acoperise și cu urechile înfundate, Axente se târâ pînă la marginea craterului și instinctiv se aruncă înăuntru știind că nu cad două proiectile în același loc.”
