“Now we come to the idea of ex nihilo. We do not know anything about the world before the Big Bang, which could mean that the world came from nothing. But if we ask religious people, nothing can be created out of nothing. But if nothing comes out of nothing, the creation must be the “Child” of existing something, which must be God. If even God cannot create something out of nothing, it must create the world (universe) out of itself. If this creation is the creation out of itself, then it cannot inherently be different from the so-called “creator.” If it cannot be inherently different from the creator, then this creation cannot be precisely called creation but recreation. But even this recreation is impossible without the Nothing. In this sense, there is a creation (partially) out of nothing (ex nihilo) because the real creating force is the Absolute and not only a God or a Universal Mind. The Universal Mind creates and procreates with the help of Nothingness and not solely from nothingness because ex nihilo nihil fit—from nothing, nothing comes to be.”

“Thank you,” he said. Luce felt her lips quiver and her eyes burn. Before she knew what she was doing, she fell into Cam’s arms, felt his hands wrap around her back. When his chin rested on the top of her head, she began to weep. He let her cry. Held her close. He whispered, “You’re so brave.” Then Cam’s arms shifted and his chest pulled lightly away. For a second, she felt cold and exposed, but then another chest, another pair of arms replaced Cam’s. And she knew without opening her eyes that it was Daniel. No other body in the universe fit hers so well. “Mind if I cut in?” he asked softly. “Daniel—” She clenched her fists and squeezed her arms around him, wanting to squeeze away the pain. “Shhh.” He held her like that for what might have been hours, rocking her slightly, cradling her in his wings until her tears had tapered off and the weight in her heart had eased enough that she could breathe without sniffling.”

“Sometimes death is a gift. Sometimes it's like the end of a good book. You turn the last page and think, jeez that was a great story. You don't want it to end. You never want it to end. When a boy dies... when a boy drowns it's like the pages have been torn from the book and you feel ripped off. The story doesn't make any sense. It might take ages for you to realise that it was meant to be a short story. A sad story. Eddy's death was the perfect end to an amazing story. The story of her life. I guess you're all part of the story, like me. I guess some of you are even feeling the same way I do. Bit sad. Bit hollow inside and so, so happy that Eddy was part of my life. Could you think of a more beautiful, peaceful way to die? To just go to sleep and never wake up? Wouldn't surprise me if she'd planned it. She taught me so many things. So many things about life. About fear and courage and being yourself and love. She taught me about love. She taught me these things without trying. Every day. She lived every day like it mattered. She wasn't perfect. Who is? ... I hope it's okay to feel a bit happy as well as a bit sad. The book of Eddy had some beautiful moments and a lovely ending. I'll keep it in the library of my heart just in case I need a bit of laugh or some wisdom.”
