Staviti se u položaj stranjskosti (étrangeté), začudnosti čak i u prvom jeziku, jedina je pouzdana metoda jezičke i političke autonomije, slobode i nezavisnosti. Ta nam stranjskost ili pomaknutost omogućava da izbjegnemo sakaćenja nametanog, izluđenog i unakaženog jezika. Materinji je jezik rizičan i često destruktivan fantazam. Ali ne jezik kao takav, već iluzija materinje „zaštitne“ čahure koja nas radikalno odvaja od izvanjskosti i drugosti. Još više nego „materinji“, to čini nacionalan jezik koji upućuje na jezičnu „čistotu“ i pretpostavlja prirodno posjedovanje jezika.”
