В углу конверта, в складке, затерялся клочок бледно-желтой пряжи, ниточка пушистого нежного мохера, — из него она вязала мне в детстве одежки. Это означало: обнимаю тебя. В третьем не было ничего. Я долго тряс конверт, стремясь отыскать ускользающую деталь. Наконец, разорвав конверт, обнаружил с внутренней стороны красный отпечаток губ, прошептавших: «Целую тебя». С четвертым письмом оказалось просто: в него был вложен серый камешек, треугольная округлая галька, пересылка обошлась дорого, о чем свидетельствовало обилие штемпелей. Мать признавалась мне: «На сердце у меня тяжело». Пятое послание добавило проблем: внутри лежало перо.
