“Time. Now here is a peculiar commodity, boy. The measurement of time. Best accomplished, obviously, with a watch. But, lacking a watch, a man may use instead the ebb and flow of light and dark. Lacking, however, a window through which to see such movement, the reliance must be devolved upon some inner mechanism of the mind. But if the mind has received a shock, the mechanism is disturbed, and time becomes as the ground is to a drunkard, variable.”

“TIME OUT
Every single time shit happens in history everyone
runs for cover to a church or an underground bunker
fearing death and retaliation slavery or retribution for
being alive or human because human beings keep fucking up our own atmosphere with hate never realizing that this pathetic behavior isn't human at all but primitive bullshit without real reason or soul never learning that greed and money is what every single time has brought us here to this very same place. A bunch of whiny, immature children screaming " Mine! Mine!" in a desperate need for a permanent time out in a prison cell who needs to learn that this shit isn't going to be accepted or tolerated anymore. Ever. The problem is is that you let them get away with it all and followed them blindly and stood by them, did nothing as they took all your rights and are now using your own money to amass more money, more weapons and more toys that they know will keep you from putting them where they belong in a prison cell or jail and in some most recent cases even an insane asylum.
So if this petty, child like behavior is never resolved from day one it's pretty obvious that in every century or country on this planet you're going to get an asshole or two who thinks he or even she is above or better than other human beings and acts out like a pathetic whiny little bitch who thinks they're entitled and doesn't play well with others . So let's all act like intelligent, mature adults and put them in permanent corners so they where they can't hurt anyone and do anymore significant damage. They're not messiahs or wise men.
They're immature children masquerading as competent adults who are the furthest thing from one.”

“Time overlaps itself. A breath breathed from a passing breeze is not the whole wind, neither is it just the last of what has passed and the first of what will come, but is more--let me see--more like a single point plucked on a single strand of a vast spider web of winds, setting the whole scene atingle. That way; it overlaps ... as prehistoric ferns grow from bathtub planters.”

Under the ice, the future stirred.
If you fell into it, you died.
It was a time
of waiting, of suspended action.
I lived in the present, which was
that part of the future you could see.
The past floated above my head,
like the sun and moon, visible but never reachable.
It was a time
governed by contradictions, as in
I felt nothing and
I was afraid.”

“Time passes.
Although, time never does anything else. This is a one-way street. In one of the definitions of time that I have read somewhere – the continuous and essentially irrevocable progression of existence and events from the past to the future via the present moment – my attention is drawn to the word ‘irrevocable’. For this reason alone, time should come with a warning label.”

“Time passes, and as the hot midday sun and cool mountain nights alternately bake and freeze the blackened landscape of Vesuvius, something remarkable happens.
Gradually, the streams of cold lava are colonized by a lichen, stereocaulon vesuvianim. This lichen is so tiny that it is almost invisible to the naked eye, but as it grows, it turns the lava from black to silvery gray. Where the lichen has gone, other plants can follow- first mugwort, valerian, and Mediterranean scrub, but later ilex and birch trees, along with dozens of species of apricot.
Meanwhile, the clinkers and ash that covered the landscape like so much grubby gray snow are slowly, inexorably, working their way into the fields and the vineyards, crumbling as they do so, adding their richness to the thick black soil, and an incomparable flavor to tomatoes, zucchini, eggplants, fruit and all the other produce which grows there.”
