Castor Quotes

“Don't you have virgin blood to drink or something?' 'Virgin blood?' Castor smiled one of those devastating vampire smiles as he shoved a hand through his hair in very devil-may-care fashion. 'What kind of stories have you been reading about me?' 'I don't read any stories about you,' Lala huffed, but Evangeline swore there was a deeper colour on her cheeks. 'So it's just a coincidence that you're quoting one of them?' 'I know you drink blood,' she said. Castor's gaze turned heated. I'd like to drink your blood, it seemed to say.”

“Have you ever successfully stopped Jacks?' asked Castor. Lala raised her chin imperiously. 'I once stabbed him with a butter knife.' 'I remember that butter knife fiasco,' Evangeline said. 'It caused a great mess. Speaking of messes- what are we going to do about Jacks's heart?' 'I say we kidnap Aurora and torture her until she tells us where it is,' said Lala. 'I'm not letting you torture my sister,' Castor interrupted. 'Your sister is a monster!' Castor's nostrils flared. 'We are all monsters.”

“What are you doing here?' Her lips twisted with displeasure. 'I just saved your friend's life.' Chaos replied sharply. And was it just Evangeline's imagination, or did he puff out his chest? ... 'Well, I'm here now, so-' Lala waved a hand toward the forest. 'Did you just dismiss me?' Castor asked. 'I tried,' Lala said.”

“I remember all of it,' she said. 'I remember everything from the moment we met in your church to the night at the Valory Arch. I'm sorry it took me so long.' 'It doesn't matter,' Jacks said flippantly, still smiling crookedly as he dropped the apple in his hand. It fell to the ground with a heavy thud. 'Evangeline. Back away from him,' called a smoky voice through the trees. It was vaguely familiar, but she couldn't place it until Chaos carefully stepped closer. 'He's not safe right now.' 'I'm never safe,' Jacks said. Then with a smirk toward his old friend, he added, 'Playing the hero doesn't suit you, Castor.' 'At least I don't give up just because I fail.' 'I'm not giving up,' Jacks drawled. 'I'm giving the girl what she wants.' His fingers moved down her jaw to Evangeline's chin. For a second, time seemed to slow as he carefully lifted her chin in a way that made her think of only one thing: kissing. Evangeline felt suddenly sober. 'Isn't this what you want?' Jacks whispered.”

“The young man stood beside the arch the way a tree stood in a forest as if he'd always been there. He wore no cloak or cape, just sinuous leather armour and an unusual bronze helm. The top portion almost looked like a crown, thick and decorated with unfamiliar symbols that wrapped around the young man's forehead. The helm left most of his wavy brown hair uncovered but concealed much of his face with a wide curve of harsh, spiked metal that bracketed the sides of his head and covered his jaw all the way to the bridge of his nose, leaving only a pair of eyes and slashing cheekbones exposed.”
