Elizabeth Carter was an English poet and scholar, celebrated for her contributions to the Enlightenment. Born on December 16, 1717, and passing away on February 19, 1806, Carter was known for her translations and scholarly work on ancient Greek poetry, particularly the works of Callimachus.
