Randall Wright (born August 4, 1956) is an American economist known for his pioneering work in monetary economics, search theory, and macroeconomics. He is a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has served as Vice President of the American Economic Association. Wright's research focuses on the microfoundations of money, labor market matching models, and asset pricing. He is best known for developing the "Wright model," a monetary search model that explains the role of money in transactions.
