Quote by Sergei Korolev

“The time will come when a spacecraft carrying human beings will leave the earth and set out on a voyage to distant planets - to remote worlds. Today this may seem only an enticing fantasy, but such in fact is not the case. The launching of the first two Soviet Sputniks has already thrown a sturdy bridge from the earth into space, and the way to the stars is open”

Sergei Pavlovich Korolev (January 12, 1907 – January 14, 1966) was a Soviet rocket engineer and the chief designer of the Soviet space program. He is often called the father of the Soviet space program. Korolev oversaw the development of the R-7 intercontinental ballistic missile, which became the basis for the Sputnik launch vehicle that sent the first artificial satellite into orbit in 1957. He also led the Vostok program that achieved the first human spaceflight by Yuri Gagarin in 1961. His work was instrumental in the early successes of the Space Race, though his identity remained classified until after his death. more

Such an arrangement might prove more useful, economically, than the construction of radio relay systems over the whole surface of the earth. The great accuracy of movement of these satellites will provide a reliable basis for solving navigational problems”

“My SUV, assuming Hummer comes out with a model for those who find the current ones too cramped, will look something like the Louisiana Superdome on wheels. It'll guzzle so much gas as I walk out to my driveway there will be squads of Saudi princes gaping and applauding. It'll come, when I buy it, with little Hondas and Mazdas already embedded in the front grillwork.”

“..the real world's all we've got. Believers in the supernatural claim to have special wisdom about the world. But real wisdom means knowing truth from falsehood, knowing the difference between evidence and wishful thinking. Yes, the real world is mysterious and sometimes frightening. But would the supernatural make it better? The real world has beauty, poetry, love and the joy of honest discovery. Isn't that enough?”
