“Taskussa helisee kourallinen helmiä. Siirrän niitä päivän aikana oikeasta taskusta vasempaan yksi kerrallaan aina silloin, kun olen osannut tehdä hyvinvointiani lisäävän teon. Päivästä riippuen helmiä siirtyy taskusta toiseen vaihteleva määrä. Valtaosa ihmisistä sulloutui raitiovaunuun numero seitsemän, niin minäkin (helmi!), sillä tavoin muuten sinäkin lähdit seuraamaan ihmisiä kun suuntani hävisivät. Päädyin presidentti Mauno Koiviston hautajaisiin Tuomiokirkkoon. "Haihdumme kuin lumi aamun tullen", arkkipiispa alttarilla sanoi. Se oli oikeastaan ainoa asia joka tilaisuudesta jäi mieleeni (helmi!). Iltaisin tavaan ääneen Maolin taulukkokirjaa (helmiä!). Eksoottisten kasvien siemenluettelot, jos niissä on latinaa, toimivat yhtä rauhoittavasti (runsaasti helmiä!).”
