“Dass insbesondere das Visum für postsowjetische Länder zum Problem werden kann, hatte ich in Russland schon am eigenen Leib erfahren. Meine damalige Freundin wartete erst ahnungslos und dann weinend in der Moskauer Flughafenhalle auf mich. Moskau hatte mich ausgespuckt wie einen alten Kaugummi. Erst zurück in Berlin im russischen Konsulat begriff ich, was das Problem gewesen war: ein Zahlendreher in der Visumsnummer. Der Konsulatsbeamte griff zum Kugelschreiber und kritzelte eine neue über die alte Nummer. Stempel. Fertig. "Da, bitte sehr", sagte er mit einer Miene, als wolle er eine Medaille. Warum man das nicht am Moskauer Flughafen hätte machen können. Wer jetzt für meine Flugkosten aufkomme. Auf diese Fragen zuckte der Beamte nur mit den Schultern und meinte mit breitem Lächeln: "Höhere Gewalt. Das ist die postsowjetische Bürokratie!”
