Save The World Quotes

“By succumbing to external conditioning and looking outside ourselves for answers, thus denying the power of our imagination and ignoring the only viable path forward into the future (that of internal transformation), we’re bound to just keep pouring gasoline on a world already on fire.”

“History is a sad testament to the limitations of external change, or changing things from the outside. A dime a dozen and almost invariably overrated in hindsight, countless revolutions, insurgencies, wars, conflicts, struggles and social movements have stubbornly—and blindly—sought to create a better world. Yet true, lasting transformation remains elusive at the groupthink level. We grapple with the same issues, generation after generation, in this hamster wheel called ‘reality.’ Why is external change so damn challenging? Because, I contend, to echo Henry David Thoreau’s celebrated quote about the branches and roots of evil, pursuing external change only addresses symptoms, not the deeper cause.”

“Your words, actions, and thoughts are equivalent to “likes,” “clicks” and “shares.” The more we can consciously choose to live from and be guided by love, the more we create the possibility of that resonance of love going viral throughout all of humanity.”

“My position is that, on at least a subliminal level, even many of the most benighted sheeple (the really stubborn ones I think of as the ‘consciously clueless’) secretly suspect that they’re corralled in a system designed to control them, to keep them in check. But I’m here to tell you it doesn’t have to be this way. We have the power to change our circumstances individually and maybe, just maybe, collectively.”

“And finally, avoid the temptation to strike a pose and say "It's too late." It's not true. It's half-baked nihilism: and like all half-baked nihilism, it lazily temps us to think that what we do doesn't matter now. It does matter; it will always matter. The time to give up is never. Hope - active, purposeful, informed hope - is what we owe the world. A body of unimaginable splendor turns on its axis, calling us to its aid.”

“There was little conversation between them, just an oddly companionable silence. “What time is it?” Daisy would ask every now and then, and he would produce a pocket watch. Mildly intrigued by the jangle of objects in his coat pocket, Daisy demanded to see what was inside it. “You’ll be disappointed,” Swift said as he unearthed the collection of items. He dumped the lot into her lap while Daisy sorted through it all. “You’re worse than a ferret,” she said with a grin. There was the folding knife and the fishing line, a few loose coins, a pen nib, the pair of spectacles, a little tin of soap— Bowman’s, of course— and a slip of folded waxed paper containing willowbark powder. Holding the paper between thumb and forefinger, Daisy asked, “Do you have headaches, Mr. Swift?” “No. But your father does whenever he gets bad news. And I’m usually the one who delivers it.” Daisy laughed and picked up a tiny silver match case from the pile in her lap. “Why matches? I thought you didn’t smoke.” “One never knows when a fire will be needed.” Daisy held up a paper of straight pins and raised her brows questioningly. “I use them to attach documents,” he explained. “But they’ve been useful on other occasions.” She let a teasing note enter her voice. “Is there any emergency for which you are not prepared, Mr. Swift?” “Miss Bowman, if I had enough pockets I could save the world.”

“Could it really be the case that so many of our problems proliferate because this mesmerizing construct and its somnambulistic denizens have forgotten how to dance? how to sing? how to engage storytelling? how to enter into silence?”

“No one is going to save the world by hating other people. That’s not to say we shouldn’t be angry about all the wrongdoing. Anger, however, is not the same as hate, though people often equate the two. Anger can be channeled into positive action, as a force for good. When our hearts are in the right place, we are working for the benefit of all humanity.”
